Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring my own phone to StandUp Wireless?

Yes. StandUp Wireless offers Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) service, which lets you use a compatible phone you already own. When you sign up for service, you will receive a SIM card and instructions on how to install it. Most unlocked GSM 4G LTE/5G handsets work on our network. To check whether your specific phone is compatible, visit standupwireless.com and use the device compatibility checker — you will need your phone's IMEI number. To find your IMEI, dial *#06# on your phone's dialer. Note: the compatibility check does not confirm whether your phone is unlocked. If your phone is locked, contact the company that sold it to you for instructions on how to unlock it.

What can I do if the SIM card is not being recognized?

Turn the device off. Remove the SIM card and make sure the metal contacts on both the device and SIM card are clear of debris and are not damaged. Make sure the SIM card is inserted correctly and aligned with the diagram on your device. Reinsert the SIM card and power your device on. If the problem persists, chat with Customer Care on our website or call 1-800-544-4441 from another phone for assistance.

How do I set up my voicemail?

All StandUp Wireless plans include Voicemail. Setup steps vary by device.

How do I transfer my contacts to a new phone?

The most reliable way to transfer contacts from one phone to another is to set up a Gmail account and save your contacts there. Once your Gmail account is set up on your new device, you will have the option to sync your contacts automatically. If your old phone can connect to Wi-Fi, create a Gmail account, move your contacts there, then set up that Gmail account on your new device. To move contacts to or from a SIM card: open the Android Contacts app with your SIM card inserted, press and hold on a contact to select it, then follow the on-screen prompts to move the contact to or from the SIM.

How do I connect my phone to Bluetooth?

Bluetooth setup varies depending on your phone's manufacturer and software version, which makes it difficult to provide a single set of instructions that works for all devices. For guidance specific to your phone, check your device's user manual. You can find user manuals for StandUp Wireless devices at standupwireless.com/support/consumer-information/.

What can I do if my phone is running out of storage?

If your device supports it, you can add a Micro SD card to significantly expand your storage. You can also free up space by removing apps you no longer use: swipe down from the top of your screen to open the notification bar, tap the gear icon to go to Settings, go to Apps, scroll through the list, and uninstall any apps you don't use.

What do I do if my phone won't turn on?

Charge your device for at least 10 minutes without interruption. Do not try to turn the phone on during this time — just let it charge. Use the charger and cable that came with your phone. After 10 minutes, try turning it on again. If the problem persists, chat with Customer Care on our website or call 1-800-544-4441 from another phone.

What do I do if my screen is not responding to touch?

Make sure your device's screen is clean — use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe it. If that doesn't resolve the issue, reboot your device. If the problem continues, call 1-800-544-4441 from another phone for further assistance.

What do I do if my phone gets very hot?

All phones can get warm from time to time. If the device becomes too hot to hold, or begins to malfunction, power it off immediately and report the issue by calling 1-800-544-4441 from another phone. In most cases, phones overheat because too many apps are running in the background. Check the "Running Apps" section in your Settings to close any apps that shouldn't be running, and make sure your screen isn't staying on for long periods of time.

What do I do if I can't make or receive calls?

Check your balance in the app to make sure you have minutes available. If your balance is low, add airtime in the app, on the website, or by calling 611. If your balance is sufficient, check that your device is not in airplane mode, then reboot your device. If the problem only occurs in certain locations, our network may not have coverage in that area. If the problem persists in areas where you have previously had service, chat with Customer Care on our website or call 1-800-544-4441 from another device to report the issue.

What do I do if I can't send or receive text messages?

Check your balance to make sure you are on a plan that includes text messages (SMS) and/or data (for MMS picture messages). If your balance is low, purchase additional airtime in the app. If you have sufficient balance and are still experiencing issues, chat with Customer Care on our website or call 611 for further assistance.

What do I do if I forgot my lock screen PIN, pattern, or password?

You may contact the device’s manufacturer for reset instructions. As a last resort, you may perform a factory reset. This will erase all data on the device, so make sure your information is backed up, if possible. NOTE: this will not work on all devices, so contacting the manufacturer first is advised. To factory reset most Android devices: turn the device off completely, then press and hold the volume up (down on some models) button and the power button at the same time for a few seconds. The device will enter boot mode, where you can choose to wipe the device and restart.

Does StandUp Wireless have a device warranty?

StandUp Wireless does not sell devices and therefore does not have a warranty program. Customer Care can help troubleshoot basic issues. Please contact your device’s manufacturer for replacement and repair options.

Where can I find the user manual for my phone?
