Helene Weather Events Waiver

The affects of Hurricane Helene have been devastating to many people in our southern states. You may qualify for free wireless service, due to these circumstances.  Please see the information below on how to qualify and apply.

About the Waiver

On October 2, 2024, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted Order 24-107 to temporarily and on a limited basis waive the Lifeline eligibility requirements to allow consumers participating in FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program (IHP), as a result of Hurricane Helene, Tropical Storm Helene, and Post-Tropical Cyclone Helene (collectively, the Helene Weather Events) to apply for and enroll in the Lifeline program. Consumers will be able to enroll using this waiver through April 2, 2025.

How can I qualify for Lifeline under this waiver?

You can qualify under this waiver if you live in the affected disaster areas in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia AND are enrolled in FEMA’s Individual and Households Program (IHP).

How can I sign up?

  1. Qualify through the National Verifier- apply online at LifelineSupport.org.
  2. Sign up for StandUp Wireless service- come back to www.standupwireless.com to complete your application online to receive your benefit. Alternatively, you may contact our Customer Care team to request a paper application to be mailed or emailed to you.

What documents will I need to provide?

You may need to provide documentation that demonstrates you participate in FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program (IHP).

To show you participate in FEMA’s IHP, you may provide your approval letter. The letter should include the following information:

  • Your first and last name
  • Enrollment date
  • The name of the program
  • • Approval that you are receiving assistance due for Hurricane Helene, Tropical Storm Helene, and Post-Tropical Cyclone Helene

Documents in email format, or a screenshot from DisasterAssistance.gov are acceptable.
